EtonX is committed to safeguarding across all of its services, especially in regards to tutor recruiting, training and management.
EtonX conducts at least two video interviews with all tutors as part of the selection process and confirms the identity and address of all our tutors using verified photo IDs such as Passport, Driving License, or professional employment photo-cards.
Application process
All applicants applying to tutor with EtonX must follow our safer recruitment process, which includes:
- completing an application form containing safeguarding questions to gather all necessary and relevant information about each applicant (a Curriculum Vitae will not be accepted in place of a completed application form);
- a criminal record check (enhanced DBS for applicants who reside in the UK and the equivalent police check in the country of residence for those who live outside of the UK or who have lived abroad for a significant period of time in the past 10 years).
- requiring all applicants to supply two references with at least one reference from the director or HR director of their most recent employer where possible;
- the two-stage interview approach, including safeguarding questions in the interview;
- checking and verifying originals (where possible) or certified copies of qualifications and ID documents; and
- appropriate induction to the role (including safeguarding policies and procedures, safeguarding training and signing up to an EtonX Code of Conduct).
Criminal records check
Due to the nature of the work at the company, EtonX applies for an enhanced disclosure from the DBS (where applicable) for all prospective tutors.
Permanent UK residents must be cleared by the DBS and provide relevant documents to confirm their identity.
Permanent overseas residents must provide a completed ‘Self-Declaration Form’, documentation from the police authority in their country of residence detailing the status of their criminal record and provide relevant documents to confirm their identity.
Applicants who have lived or worked both inside and outside of the UK for significant periods of time during the past 10 years must undergo the same checks as all other staff and will need to be cleared by the DBS, documentation from the police authority or authorities in their country or countries of residence detailing the status of their criminal record and provide relevant documents to confirm their identity
EtonX will make any further checks they think appropriate if there are any relevant events that have occurred outside the UK.
Profile verification
We check all information provided by a tutor that will appear on the student platform (e.g. personal bio and profile picture). Tutors will not be assigned to a student cohort until their profile information that will be visible to students has been approved.
All personal details about the tutor (including contact address, email and phone number) will remain private and confidential and will not be available to the student.
Tutors must agree to the EtonX Terms of Service and adhere to the EtonX Code of Conduct.
