Visiting Stoke Park School was an incredibly enriching experience, providing me with a first-hand look at how this vibrant educational community nurtures student growth. Stoke Park School, in Coventry, is known for its commitment to their ‘7 Year Journey’ programme, emphasising character development from Year 7 through to Year 13. This visit demonstrated the school’s dedication to fostering an environment where students can thrive academically and personally with no barriers to their development.

Student Feedback Highlights

Engaging with a mix of students from Years 9 to 13 provided valuable insights into their experiences with EtonX courses. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting the courses’ alignment with the school’s educational philosophy. Students praised the interactive and diverse nature of the courses, particularly enjoying videos like Ted Talks, which helped them model their public speaking skills. They appreciated the ability to choose courses based on their stage in the ‘7 Year Journey,’ highlighting a personalised approach to learning.

The standout moment for me was when students were able to explain how they had taken what they had learnt from the courses to apply to wider contexts outside of the scenarios provided on EtonX.

  • ‘I found it useful and it taught me not to give up in subjects I struggle with.’ – Year 9 student.
  • ‘I was quite an introverted and shy person. I am part of the student council and these courses helped me to put ideas forward and really helped me to keep conversations going outside of school as well.’ – Year 10 student.
  • ‘It has helped me to analyse and make better judgements of information. This is really helpful because, now that I am 18, I can vote this year so I have applied to help me effectively analyse what the politicians are saying.’ – Year 13 student.

Feedback from School Staff

I had the pleasure of speaking with staff members, including Heads of Year, to discuss their successful implementation of EtonX. They found the courses seamlessly integrated with the school calendar, enhancing students’ learning experiences at various stages in their 7-year journey. They decided to approach the EtonX courses in an individualised way which allowed students to choose courses that resonated with their interests and needs, further promoting engagement and personal growth.

I was delighted to award Stoke Park the prestigious status of our first Silver Partnership School. This recognition is a testament to the school’s outstanding commitment to student development and active promotion of EtonX courses. Achieving the Silver Level Partnership required a higher proportion of students completing EtonX courses and the school’s active promotion of these courses through various communication channels.
