As technology continues to advance at an increasingly rapid pace, the need for strong programming skills has never been more essential. Recognising this, EtonX has partnered with Logiscool to develop an exciting new course, ‘Coding Games with Python.’ This course is designed to introduce you to the world of Python programming through the creation of engaging games. Let’s take a deep dive into the myriad benefits of programming knowledge in the modern workplace, and how such knowledge can provide future opportunities.
Just keep coding…
In 2024, Forbes ranked the Information Technology sector as the second highest-paying industry.[1] With digital and coding skills becoming increasingly important and sought after by employers, how can you give yourself an edge in the competitive job market?
In today’s digital age, coding and programming are more than just valuable and desirable skills—they’re essential tools for navigating the future. As technology continues to evolve and permeate every aspect of our lives, the ability to understand and implement various coding solutions becomes increasingly crucial.
Coding also fosters important skills in problem-solving, creativity, and logical thinking – all highly sought after abilities by employers, as well as allowing individuals to bring their innovative ideas to life! Moreover, programming skills open up a wide array of career opportunities across various industries, from the aforementioned information technology sector to healthcare, finance, and entertainment. By learning to code, you’re not just preparing for a job; you’re equipping yourself with the knowledge to shape the future and drive technological advancements.
To code or not to code?
Despite the rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI), the ability to code has not been diminished, but rather has highlighted an increasing need in the workplace for the human ability to critically think, evaluate and creatively problem solve. Learning Python, or other programming languages, allows people to remain adaptable in the changing employment landscape, where they can leverage AI to enhance their own productivity.[2]
But where to begin?
Where can people start to develop these essential skills and prepare themselves for this rapidly evolving future?
EtonX has teamed up with Logiscool to launch an exciting new course for high school students, focusing on the Python programming language: ‘Coding Games with Python’.
But with an abundance of programming languages on offer, why Python? Well, Python is a favourite among current software developers, with over 65% eager to use it again in their professional projects next year.[3] Python is also known for its readability and simplicity, and serves as an excellent entry point for budding programmers, as well as being an ideal first programming language to learn, before exploring others!
With our new Coding Games with Python course, you too can now dive into this powerful language and start building your own games! All whilst learning the foundations of Python programming.
From conditionals and loops to variables, students will learn the basics of Python programming using Logiscool’s unique and intuitive coding platform, Scoolcode. This hands-on course is designed to make coding fun and accessible. Below is an example of the type of game you will be able to design by the end of the course:
We are also excited to introduce our new gamification feature, brand new to this course! In Coding Games with Python, you can unlock the thrill of learning through our exclusive Level Up! system. As you complete activities and coding tasks, you’ll earn experience points that propel you through ten exciting levels. Only the most dedicated learners will reach the prestigious Level 10.
