Computer Science GCSE – learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students will have learnt how to:
- understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of Computer Science, including abstraction, decomposition, logic, algorithms, and data representation
- analyse problems in computational terms through practical experience of solving such problems, including designing, writing and debugging programs
- think creatively, innovatively, analytically, logically and critically
- understand the components that make up digital systems, and how they communicate with one another and with other systems
- understand the impacts of digital technology to the individual and to wider society
Learning Experience
Students will work through the online course materials at their own pace with branching videos, quizzes, interactive presentations, and other dynamic content designed to emulate an engaging classroom experience. The in-built coding tasks will ensure the essential programming component of the course is fully covered.
Many activities will adapt to provide additional support or stretch where needed. Regular quizzes and end-of-topic assessments will give a clear indication of performance and guide students to appropriate resources to build on their knowledge, understanding and skills.
