“If you are looking to improve your conversational skills and want to learn how to communicate better I can recommend the EtonX online verbal communication course. Week by week you will gain a better understanding of verbal communication by taking on self study and peer learning tasks. At the end of each week you get the change to practice your newly gained skills and knowledge in a group class together with other students and a tutor. All in all it is a very informative and fun experience.”

Ben, Germany

“You get to know new people and you will have a wonderful tutor, who is very helpful and accompany you through the course. You will improve your communication skills, by talking with others and doing your weekly task. Additionally, you will learn things in a modern way.”

Kim, Germany

“I can articulate my ideas more clearly and concisely. I am more confident about building rapport with others. I am more confident about interpreting what others are saying and responding appropriately.”

Emily, Germany

“I think it’s going to be very helpful for me to get rid of fillers, but the most important thing for me is the active listening part, and the clear and short answering of questions using the pyramid model. I will use it in my daily communication.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is effective Verbal Communication?

Effective verbal communication can be challenging. Although we may be clear in our minds about what we want to say, the words we use to express this can be easily misheard, misunderstood or misinterpreted by the person we are talking to.

Effective verbal communicators know how to ensure that the thoughts and ideas they have in their minds are effectively transferred and decoded by the people they are talking to. They use techniques such as structuring their message, speaking clearly, concisely and expressively and checking for feedback in their listeners.

All these techniques and more are covered in our course. You can also find more on communication skills in this EtonX article.

Why should I take this course?

Being an effective communicator helps you build better relationships with your peers, parents and teachers, avoid conflict and misunderstanding, and save time (by not having to repeat yourself or need to do work over again).

Effective communicators make good interviewees so good communication skills can help you achieve your goals such as getting into the university of your choice, being selected for internship opportunities and eventually, getting the job you want.

I’m already a confident communicator. Will this course help me?

EtonX’s courses are designed for all abilities. You may be good at speaking, but do you pay as much attention to your skills as a listener? Both are vital for good communication. You will find working with peers in the online classroom particularly useful because you will be communicating online and possibly with people from other cultures. These are both additional skills that all future employees need.

Who are the tutors?

All our tutors are UK based and have been trained at Eton College. They are highly experienced online tutors used to working with students from all over the world. Every EtonX tutor has passed a rigorous selection and training process and has been cleared to work with children by the British government.

Will I have a teacher from Eton College?

Each course has a Course Director who is a teacher at Eton College. The Course Director has worked with EtonX to produce the course and features in videos introducing and summarising each week’s work. You will also have a chance to hear from students at Eton.
